About the Artist

I am an artist and teacher. I have a BA in education from UCLA and a BA in art from CSUN. I hold California lifetime credentials in art and elementary school education. I taught elementary school for the LA Unified School District for 5 years and art at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, California for 23 years. Since my retirement from full time teaching in 2009, I have been practicing my craft and improving my skills by studying art at Pierce College in Woodland Hills, CA. under the tutelage of John Paul Thornton and Peter Kraus.

My artistic philosophy is to not only portray the likeness, but to display the personality and even the mood of the subject.

Roberta was our guide on a trip that I took to Venice, Italy a few years ago. As you can see, I have captured her likeness, but more importantly, I hope you can see the fierce intensity that showed her love of Venice.

Roberta

I have traveled extensively all over the world from Europe to Africa, to Asia, to South America, and to Australia. On these trips, my husband and I have taken thousands of photos of the people and places. From these, I have produced many watercolor portraits of the people that we saw there. Each attempts to capture not only the likeness, but the essence of who these people are.

As you look through my gallery which includes only a selection of the many hundreds of paintings that I have done over the years, I believe that you will be convinced that I can produce something that you will treasure for many years.

When you have explored the other areas of my website, please go to my Contact page and let me know if you have an interest in employing my talent.
