Hagar was kidnapped from her home on kibbutz Kfar Aza with her three young children on Saturday morning, October 7th. The day before the attack, the whole family had gathered to celebrate Ofri's 10th birthday. Her birthday cake was still in the fridge, with a candle waiting to be lit on Saturday morning.

When the attack began, Hagar took her children, Ofri 10, Yuval 8 and Oria 4, to the safe room. At the same time, Avihay, the father of the family, rescued Avigail Idan, their three-year-old neighbor, who had just witnessed her parents being murdered. Avihay left Avigail with his family in the safe room and ran to defend the kibbutz. When he returned home, wounded, he found it empty and feared the absolute worst had happened.

He later discovered that his entire family, including little Avigail, had been kidnapped by Hamas terrorists and taken to Gaza.

As the days went on, Avihay became one of the more vocal family members in the fight to bring home all the hostages.  He was thankfully reunited with his wife and children 51 days later!
